Job Description:

Your regular duties are as follows:

  • Walking multiple dogs (up to 6 dogs) of different breeds, sizes, ages and behaviours in various weather conditions.
  • Able to lift/assist dogs into the vehicle. Some dogs weigh over 100lbs. Average weight to assist dogs would be approximately 50lbs.
  • You will be providing adequate physical and mental exercise on each pack walk while following Barker’s Balanced K9s handling and walking techniques.
  • Regularly recording information specifying which dogs were walked, the duration of the walks, and if there were any unusual or abnormal observations.
  • Provide feedback on how the Pack Leader role can be improved for more efficient operations.
  • Safely transporting dogs to and from their homes.
  • Must have your own vehicle that is reliable. SUV or Minivan MANDATORY. No cars.
  • Ensuring your vehicle is clean and maintained. Winter tires must be equipped seasonally. November 1st – March 30th
  • Driving responsibly and safely. Following all posted speed limits.
  • Picking up and disposing of pet waste.
  • Ensuring that all dogs have fresh water.
  • Taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the dogs and those around them are safe.
  • Providing regular updates to clients, which includes sharing photos, videos and locations.
  • Notifying owners if dogs become sick or injured before, during or after walks.
  • Daily check-ins with the owner/pack leader supervisor to give a briefing of the day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have your own vehicle that is reliable. SUV or Minivan MANDATORY. No cars.
  • Clean driving record with minimum 3 years of driving history.
  • Proven experience working with dogs highly recommended.
  • Good understanding of dog behaviour.
  • The ability to walk for long periods of time in all weather conditions (1 hour walks up to 3 times a day).
  • Trustworthy and responsible.
  • Patient, Punctual, and reliable.
  • Able to multitask and be attentive.
  • No criminal records (You will need to provide a criminal record check if you are considered for the position).
  • Professional client interactions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Cell phone with data plan (gps)

Wages $18 – $20/hour

  • All training shifts and meeting wages will be paid at minimum wage of $15/hour. 
  • 10 training shifts upon hire will be with the pack leader supervisor/pack leader for all pack walks.
  • When training is completed all pack walks will be paid at an hourly rate of $18/hour
  • When you have completed the 90 day probationary period, wages will be increased to $20/hour 
  • Each walk takes approximately 2.5 – 3 hours to complete, this includes pick up of dogs, 1 hour walk, drop off of dogs.
  • You will be on a 90 day probationary period from date of hire.
  • You will receive 2 weeks of vacation annually. Vacation pay is paid out on each payday.

20-40 Hours per week.

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Pack Leader Supervisor 

Job Description:

We are looking for our next Pack Leader Supervisor! Growth in the company is always available! 

As a Pack Leader Supervisor, your regular duties are:

  • Able to lift/assist dogs into the vehicle. Some dogs weigh over 100lbs. The average weight to assist dogs would be approximately 50lbs.

  • Interacting with clients in a professional manner 
  • Doing meet and greets to assess new dogs to potentially join the pack walks. 
  • Responsible for organizing pack walk schedules for all Pack Leaders. Including covering Pack Walks if an employee is sick/unable to work. 
  • Providing up to 10 training shifts for new Pack Leaders following the standards and training practices of Barker’s Balanced K9s. 
  • Ensuring all client keys are returned and locked up at the end of day. 
  • Ensuring all Pack Leaders maintain an efficient time management schedule. 
  • Filling out any disciplinary action forms when warranted for Pack Leaders performance (late/unprofessional client interactions/insubordination/policy violations/safety violations etc.). 
  • Interviewing any new candidates for Pack Leader positions. 
  • Helping to brainstorm/create new services for Barker’s Balanced K9s Inc. 
  • Responding to Pack Walk emails in an efficient and timely manner. 
  • Pack Walk requests to join services – providing information and rates 
  • Organizing Group Client Pack Walks 1-2x a month (when weather permits) 
  • Any other duties that the owner delegates to the role. 

Qualifications 

  • You MUST have minimum 2 years experience working with dogs. 
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
